on the first sunday following armistice day the sydney maori anglican fellowship church of te wairua tapu holds a remembrance service and invites the nz veterans in nsw to participate.

However, this year we organised to have the NZDSM formally presented to NZ Veterans by the NZ High Commissioner HE Maj Gen (Retd) Martyn Dunne CNZM and City of Sydney Clr Philip Black. Also in attendence was Emeritus Chancellor of the University of Western Sydney Sir Ian Turbott Kt AO CVO CMG Hon.D.Litt(UWS), NZDF Commodore Ross Smith and 28 Maori Battalion Representative Myra Wineera. Although they did not receive a medal it was still nice to have three WWII Veterans: 98 year old Frank Harlow; 95 year old Arch Campbell and 93 year old Maurice Borland also attend.
