waitangi day 2011 merrylands 5 february 2011

the waitangi day festival was held on saturday 5 february 2011 at holroyd park gardens, merrylands from 9am to 5pm.

It was a big event with performances all day and plenty of kai for everyone. However, the temperature was in excess of 42 degrees. Nevertheless, it did not deter the people as they came to celebrate the most significant day in Maori history, the signing of the tiriti o waitangi.

the te wairua tapu stall was also inundated with interest from attendees with a special surpise visit by tongan born Israel Folau the professional australian rules footballer and other team players. Furthermore, TV and radio presenter Alf Paranihi also visited the stall.

thank you to the community for making waitangi day 2011 a very special and important day through your attendence, your determination to stay under trying weather conditions and your love to the church.
